The Eskimos advanced to this game by knocking off the Calgary Stampeders by a 33-19 score at home in their first outing of the playoffs last weekend.

Edmonton quarterback Ricky Ray was good on 19 of his 27 pass attempts for 245 yards against the rival Stampeders, with one touchdown pass and no interceptions.

Jerome Messam ran for 32 yards and a score on nine carries for the Eskimos in that win, while Calvin McCarty also found the end zone on a one-yard plunge. Jason Barnes had Edmonton’s lone TD reception in the contest.

During the regular season Edmonton went 11-7, with three of those losses coming at the hands of the Lions (11-7). The teams most recently met on October 29 in B.C., with the home side winning 29-20 as a 4-point favorite on the CFL betting lines at the Bodog Sportsbook.

Edmonton also lost 33-24 on the road and 36-1 at home against the Lions in September and August, with their last win against British Columbia coming back in July when they won 33-17 as a 2.5-point favorite at home.

The Lions, who claimed the top seed in the West Division and the first-round bye, are the favorites on the Grey Cup futures board at 10/11 odds, with the Eskimos farther back at 11/2 odds to win the league title this season.
